Michele & Erik | Cannon Green, Charleston SC

My first time to the south and man, did Charleston deliver. I’ve never been the *biggest* fan of pink, but this charming little town totally won me over — in more ways than one. As soon as I stepped out of my airbnb I desperately wished my husband, my sister, a friend, ANYONE was with me to explore all the architecture, restaurants and tiny little pockets…and really that’s what I loved most about it, it was totally walkable. Going out on a limb here, but I think I can say it’s by far one the best cities I’ve been to and getting invited there by Michele & Erik to photograph their wedding is something I won’t soon forget.

Pam, the planner/designer, did an incredible job of letting Cannon Green’s beauty do most of the work, but still instilled some of that southern charm into each little detail. She also took me on a very exciting last-minute, drive-by tour of the city since she’d heard I’d never been and that was such a fun way to get to my bearings.

I think my favorite moment of the wedding was when Erik’s twin brother was giving his speech and gave a sentimental ode to their late grandmother, who when someone said “raise your glasses” she would take off her actual glasses, and put them in the air. I loved that — the sweet, sweet little things I get to learn about each family I photograph.

I love these two, their love of their pup, and their families (and Erik is a twin, so we’re already on the same level). :)
