• New York, New York •

This city.

I don’t have many words, it was quite the experience. I felt like it was go-go-go-go, a million miles a minute the entire time I was there, but it was so worth it. The people, the lights, the pace, the food, the heat, the buildings, all of it. It was just a big take-it-all-in-before-it-disappears moment. I got to see little snippets of a lot of different neighborhoods…Manthattan, Brooklyn, Williamsburg, East Village, West Village, Meatpacking, to name a few…and got shown around by some lovely tour guides (aka, a bunch of Seattlelites who now live in NYC – thank you to all who let me sleep on their air mattresses, couches, beds, etc.) and even snuck in an engagement session, which will be up soon!

Can’t wait to return. A few photos from my trip are here…here’s to a lot of looking UP. happy Friday ya’ll.

• Floor 13 Inspired Shoot •

Any chance to collaborate with other creatives is a good one. Remember back in November, we put on and shot this lovely Fall engagement shoot out by the lake? Well us ladies put our heads together again a couple of months ago and dreamt up another inspired shoot — this time for the Spring — complete with a packed full list of amazing Seattle wedding vendors. So LADIES, if you’re looking for a venue, florist, baker, calligrapher, stationery design, dress ideas, make-up artist, or furniture rentals, look no further. Each and every one of these people were a dream to work with and made this shoot 100x’s better. I highly suggest reaching out to them if you’re in need for your upcoming nuptials.

We wanted to help showcase an AMAZING new venue in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle, (that’s available for rental for any type of event, not just weddings) for a Spring, jewel-tone, inspired shoot (think navy, ruby, emerald, plum…instead of your classis pastels). When you think Spring, I think everyone thinks outdoors, soft touches, but Stacy, Kate, and I went a different route in order to give inspiration to those who may want to (or have to) celebrate indoors. Bold colors, a glamourous and bohemian look, vintage tables cape, indoor greenery…the whole bit.

HUGE shout out to Mrs. Stacy Anderson who pulled out all the stops once again to create a beautiful spread, and Floor 13 for letting us totally take over your space and shoot all dang day. Brick walls, concrete floors, giant windows, small loft, full kitchen, and amazing furniture pieces by the owner herself, Tamara Codor, this place is seriously the coolest. We ate, we drank, we shot, good times were had by all …and what makes it a bit sweeter is a lovely feature on 100 Layer Cake this morning! Be sure to stop there and check it out.

Here, I’ll show you my take of the shoot and some of my favorite frames, a mix of both film and digital….beware it’s a long one!

Also, a lovely little snippet of this shoot appear in Seattle Met’s Wedding Wednesday blog:

• Running Around •

Guys. I’m so sorry for my obvious hiatus from my blog. I’ve been doing exactly what my title says…literally running. I finally ate at home last night for the first time in weeks, finally sat, finally breathed. It was so nice. One of my stops over the last couple of weeks was NYC. I had such a fabulous time — so I’m leaving you with a few tidbits of the trip. Many more to come including an engagement session in central park. Happy Tuesday!

• Katelyn & Grant •

Sometimes you just have to get something out of your head.

This last winter, it was that fog shoot….this week, it was a rooftop…and not to mention sun. As a creative you need to try different things…see if they work or not, and not be afraid to totally fail. I just felt this ping of inspiration and needed to run with it. And I’m so happy I have friends who will join me in that ride.

I love these two people with all my heart. Katelyn is one of my dearest friends from college, and it’s one of those friendships I will cherish until the day I die. We have shared so many milestones together and continue to walk alongside one another as we move through life, no matter the distance, time, or crazy schedule. Grant I’ve known almost equally as long, and am so happy the two of them are a team. I was honored to stand by them as they exchanged vows a couple years back and I can’t count the ways these two continue to bless the lives of people around them. They are just such a joy to be around, not to mention a drop-dead gorgeous couple to photograph. Love them oh so much.

Hi. I have a supermodel for a best friend. Oh yea, did I mention she’s in med school? Intelligent and beautiful. Sheesh.

And for good measure, a few film shots from the evening.

Branding….myself.

Among the insane schedule I’ve been trying to swing this last month (oh wait…like last 6 months – time freakin’ flies) I knew it was time to focus on myself and my own business. I’ve been putting it off for almost a YEAR now and decided in the last month I seriously couldn’t wait any longer. For the next few weeks I’ll slowly be rolling out some new branding for myself…or rather some “rearranging”. As you can probably already tell, there have been some minor adjustments to the blog and Facebook page as I begin to play with a few things. I’ve figured out what is most important to me and my business and I want a new look to reflect that. New logo, new blog, new packaging, the whole works.

Here’s a little peek of what elements I’m working with — lots of earthy blues, black, white, cream & copper. I love hand drawn patterns juxtaposed with clean lines, strong typography mixed with hand painted cursive…. and of course some metallic. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait to get this going.
